Linda has been paramount in our daughter's violin and musical education. She is enthusiastic, encouraging, and exceedingly patient with students of all ages and backgrounds, from preschoolers to adults. As a violin teacher and performer myself I have learned so much from Linda. She excels at understanding developmental stages, and has endless strategies to gently guide the child along, while simultaneously teaching the parent how to be an effective learning partner for their child.  When we had to move to online classes due tp COVID-19, I was skeptical but Linda makes it work with her combination of quality technological solutions and genuine talent for engaging children.

Our daughter looks forward to her lessons with Linda every week. Linda is patient, highly encouraging, and always provides positive and uplifting comments. She challenges our daughter when needed, and supports her through any difficulties with practice and learning. We highly recommend her for violin instruction!

My son has taken violin lessons from Linda for about four years. We were extremely fortunate to have Linda as Hansen's first violin teacher. Linda addresses violin techniques as well as guides Hansen to explore the musical aspects of every piece. From musical sight-reading to violin playing skills, Linda always knows the proper ways to inspire Hansen to learn while also providing challenges to keep the learning process going. In the 8 years I studied viola with Linda Piatt, she guided me through my auditions for principal violist in the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra and Assistant Principal Violist at San Diego Youth Symphony. She also prepared me for my audition at the Meadowmount School of Music summer program. The techniques and musicianship that I learned from Linda I have stuck with me as I continue to play in college. Besides being a wonderful teacher and mentor, Linda is a great friend. I would recommend her lessons and workshops to anyone interested in learning more about the violin or the viola!

My daughter, Kaky, was a viola student of Linda Piatt for 8 years. With Linda’s guidance Kaky grew into an amazing musician and young woman. Linda was with Kaky every step of the way helping her grow as a musician and helping her through many of life's challenges. While training with Linda, Kaky successfully auditioned for the San Diego Civic Youth Orchestra Symphony for 6 years where she had the opportunity to perform in Russia, Sweden, Finland, New Zealand, and Australia. She also played with the San Diego Youth Orchestra Symphony for 2 years and attended the prestigious Meadowmount Summer Music Program. Upon graduation from high school Kaky headed to California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo for Mechanical Engineering where she continues to play her viola in the student orchestra.

We've enjoyed nearly 6 years of classes and appreciate the support and encouragement during lessons. Linda is extremely professional and dedicated to student development. The fact that she is an active performer provides a real inspiration - this amplifies her passion for the violin and great teaching skills. The classes are very detailed and  Linda maintains a high level of expectation while remaining warm and welcoming

Despite learning the piano as a child, I always wanted to play the violin. But at 44, was I too late? A friend who plays for the San Diego Symphony recommended Linda. She's been an amazing fit - tailoring every lesson to my weekly growth, strengths and weaknesses. I couldn't hope for a more skilled, patient, and encouraging teacher.

Linda was my son's violin teacher for most of his musical development from elementary through high school. We were extremely grateful when we found Linda. Matthew's technique and sight-reading abilities improved tremendously under Linda's instructions. She knows each student's strengths and weaknesses and tailors her teaching according to the individual. Matthew developed confidence and belief in himself all due to Linda's patience and kindness. My son is in college now, but we will never forget Linda's inspirational guidance and support. She is a wonderful person and teacher with our highest recommendation.

Our daughter has been learning from Linda for almost 4 years now.  And as such we have seen tremendous growth in her violin playing skills and also her confidence.  Linda only believes in giving her best to the students and in turn she motivates them to do their best....We feel that our daughter is very fortunate to have a teacher like Linda. My 8-year old daughter studied violin with Linda for almost 2 years and she had really enjoyed working with her. Linda knows how to work with kids and make every class interesting yet with appropriate challenge. Linda creates an encouraging as well as fun teaching environment, pays attention to details, takes effort to understand any unique problem or difficulties my daughter had met and makes prompt adjustment as needed. My daughter was always looking forward to the next class and would complain if it would be cancelled due to vacation or other reason. I am really amazed to see the progress my daughter has made over the time from zero experience to being able to play beautiful pieces, and more importantly, it is not only about violin but more about the music becoming an enjoyable part of her daily life.

We wish we would be able to follow Linda for longer time but we had to move out of town which made both my daughter and I really sad...

Linda is an accomplished and thoughtful violin teacher.  My daughter has been taking lessons from her since she was 4, and after 6 years of lessons I continue to be impressed with Linda's creativity when it comes to introducing new musical concepts to a young child.  She has a well balanced teaching style, emphasizing musical technique in a challenging and yet fun manner.  We are fortunate to have found such a passionate teacher, and recommend her unconditionally.
